Matthew Crownover

Before joining Southport Capital as a portfolio adviser Matthew Crownover enjoyed much success on the baseball diamond. Crownover garnered much attention as a prep athlete being selected as a high school All-American and also being selected as a member of Team USA baseball team that won the gold medal. Crownover’s college years were spent at Clemson University where he graduated with a Communication degree in 3 years. In those 3 years at Clemson, Crownover was named to the All-American team twice, named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Pitcher of the Year in 2015, and named to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) all decade team. After his junior year he was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 6th round and enjoyed playing professionally for 4 seasons. One of the highlights of Crownover’s professional career was being the first pitcher in Potomac Nationals history to throw a NO HITTER in franchise history. Today, Crownover still loves to give back to the community he is so passionate about. He is now a volunteer baseball coach at his alma mater Ringgold High School and still enjoys giving baseball lessons to over 100 kids in the Greater Chattanooga and North Georgia area throughout the year. From his baseball career, he learned that with enough dedication and passion you can take a difficult and complex process and make it look easy, and brings that same concept to Southport Capitlal. Matthew Crownover is a National Social Security Advisor certificate holder. The NSSA® Certificate Program is a nationally recognized standard of competent and ethical Social Security planning, education and training. Professional advisors who earn the NSSA® Certificate benefit society by helping individuals and couples improve their financial security during retirement years through maximization of Social Security benefits.
